Sankalp Africa Summit 2019 Report
The Sankalp Africa Summit has grown to be the largest convening of its type in the region. The 2019 edition drew 1000+ people of 40 nationalities from the Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa. Stakeholders are incredibly diverse, representing entrepreneurs, investors, philanthropists, academic institutions, entrepreneur support organisations, and DFIs - furthermore, they represent every impact sector.

Kakamega public private partnership for health co-create workshop
The two-day workshop convened 31 representatives from: county leadership and the County Health Management Team (CHMT); sub-county representatives including medical officers of health and reproductive health focal points; private sector representatives from large faith-based facilities, large private for-profit hospitals, small sole proprietorships and small faith-based facilities; and representation from the National Ministry of Health, Kenya Healthcare Federation, and development partners to:

The publication to which the Platform contributed concludes: “While we celebrate the renewed high-level political declarations and commitments to PHC, UHC, and health for all, we also acknowledge our shortfalls and the challenges ahead in the implementation and actualization of these high-level commitments. We want to capitalize on this chance to advocate for a PHC system that is truly person-centered. Today, shared global threats of new infectious diseases, climate change, political unrest, and economic uncertainty will only exacerbate the growing chasm of health inequities.
Islamic Finance Rapid Scoping Study for delivery of UHC in Kenya
The Islamic Finance Rapid Scoping Study was commissioned by the SDG Platform towards its PHC window outcome on innovative financing. The study considers Kenya’s current context for Islamic finance; describes various Islamic social and corporate finance instruments relevant to PHC; notes challenges and opportunities for Islamic financing to support investment in PHC in Kenya; and presents actionable recommendations for follow up by the SDG PP.
